A bit about me.
I’m Kate Slyker, and I lead through my company Authentic.
The name matters.
It reflects how I show up and how I believe work gets done. Clear. Human. Real.
I am a strategy, marketing and communications leader who has spent my career understanding people. What they need. What they experience. Where things break down.
I’m especially proud of the high-performing teams I’ve built over my career, made up of people who felt connected to the work and to one another, even during moments of real uncertainty.
That perspective shapes everything I do.
Previously, I spent more than a decade in the C-suite at a $1B publicly traded telecommunications company, leading marketing, brand, and philanthropy across consumer and B2B. My role was to help the organization create positive change in a fast-paced environment, internally with employees and externally with customers and communities. That meant communicating clearly, listening closely, and showing up in a way people could trust. During that time, we delivered meaningful business results, modernized a legacy brand, improved customer and digital experiences, and built one of the strongest cultures in the company.
Prior to that, I was part of the executive team of Alaska’s leading advertising agency for 15 years. Harnessing innovation, passion and creativity to achieve our clients’ goals was invigorating. Sectors of focus included retail, banking/finance, seafood, Alaska Native organizations and telecom. The best part of the role was working with a diverse set of talent to make the “art and science” of strategic communications deliver.
For me, authentic leadership is being real, staying true to who you are, and earning trust through facts and follow-through.
